Lanna Ledger company story

Who We Are

Building Financial Clarity,
One Careful Session at a Time

Lanna Ledger began with a simple belief: that understanding your finances should feel like a conversation with a trusted friend, not a lecture from a textbook.

Our Story

From a Kitchen Table in Chiang Mai

Lanna Ledger grew out of a series of informal conversations at a small café on Tha Phae Road. A retired teacher and a former bank branch manager — both in their fifties — kept meeting people who were uncertain about everyday financial decisions: what to do with savings, how Thai banking products actually worked, and how to begin thinking about the years ahead.

They noticed that most available courses were built for younger audiences or people already comfortable with financial language. Nobody seemed to be speaking directly to people in midlife who simply wanted a clearer picture — without the pressure of being sold to.

In 2019, they formalised what had been a loose gathering into Lanna Ledger — a proper education programme, rooted in patience and plain speech, designed specifically for people navigating the forties, fifties, and beyond. The workshop on Tha Phae Road became a place where questions were welcome and nobody had to pretend they already knew the answers.

Our Mission

Education That Settles, Not Stresses

Our purpose is to make financial understanding genuinely accessible to people who came to it late — or who are returning to it after a long gap. We are not here to tell you what to do with your money. We are here to help you see it clearly so you can make your own considered choices.

Every course we offer is built around the real financial landscape of Thailand — local banking, local funds, and the real-world decisions our students are actually facing. We keep groups small, language plain, and sessions unhurried. There is no performance required and no shame in asking the simplest question.

Patient, unhurried learning for midlife adults
Content rooted in Thai banking and local context
Education only — no products, no sales pressure
Small groups, large amounts of respect

Our Standards

How We Maintain Quality

These are the commitments that shape how we plan, teach, and communicate — in every session and every exchange.

Curriculum Review

Course materials are reviewed and updated annually to reflect changes in Thai banking regulations, fund offerings, and relevant financial legislation.

Small Group Sizes

We maintain a maximum of eight participants per session. This is not a commercial choice — it is a quality commitment so that every participant gets sufficient attention.

Data Privacy

All personal information shared by students is stored securely and never passed to third parties. We comply with Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

No Conflicts of Interest

We accept no commissions, referral fees, or payments from financial product providers. Our income comes solely from course fees, so our teaching stays impartial.

Student Feedback

We ask for written feedback after every course and take it seriously. Suggestions from students have shaped several of our most important curriculum improvements.

Clear Referral Practice

When students need personalised advice that goes beyond education, we recommend they consult a licensed financial advisor. We can suggest how to find one but do not provide personal recommendations.

Financial Education in Chiang Mai for the Midlife Generation

Lanna Ledger serves adults across Chiang Mai and the surrounding northern Thailand region who are looking to build a more complete picture of their finances. Our students include long-term expatriates, Thai nationals returning from abroad, retirees, and people approaching retirement who want to understand their options more fully before making decisions.

Our approach draws on the Lanna tradition of careful, considered craftsmanship. Just as a skilled woodworker does not rush a joint, we do not rush understanding. Each concept is introduced at a pace that allows it to be absorbed — not merely noted — before the next topic arrives.

What distinguishes Lanna Ledger from broader financial literacy programmes is our specific focus on the Thai financial environment and on the particular concerns of adults in their middle years: savings that need to work harder, family responsibilities, healthcare costs, and the question of how to make the most of the decades ahead. We address these with honesty, without overpromising, and always with the understanding that every person's situation is different.
